Synopsis
The short course provides an introductory understanding of venture capital and entrepreneurial finance. We will discuss venture capital in general and discuss Venture Capital in China in particular: How venture capital impacts the overall economy? What is the potential and the roadblocks to the development of venture capital in China? What How do you value a privately held firm with highly uncertain cash flows? What are the peculiarities of the negotiation between entrepreneur and the venture capitalist? Students will experience for themselves those specifics through a negotiation role-play.

Remuneration of venture capitalists

Specific challenges of valuation and four different valuation methods

Presenter
Stephane Chatonsky has a background in Venture Capital, Investment Banking and Corporate Strategy obtained at Macquarie Bank, Lazard Freres and McKinsey. He has extensive experience in supporting entrepreneurs and corporations on a broad range of issues, in particular growth strategy, funding and organisation. Stephane developed and teaches the Venture Capital elective in the Applied Finance Masters at Macquarie University. His elective course has an outstanding record of student satisfaction.
